Wetlands and Biodiversity

Iraq’s marshlands are among the most important wetland ecosystems in the Middle East. They support rich biodiversity, provide habitats for birds, fish, and other wildlife, and sustain the livelihoods of local communities. Protecting these ecosystems is essential for preserving Iraq’s natural heritage and achieving environmental sustainability.
